Coping With and Maybe Even Inviting Mercury Retrograde

This morning, Mercury has stationed and, from our perspective here on Earth, is just about to turn to retrograde motion. The words “Mercury retrograde” can often muster feelings of panic in people who know something about astrology. But we must be careful not to turn our expectations of this phenomenon into a superstition. Yes, Mercury retrograde is a period of roughly three weeks that is suitable for reflection and review. That does not equate to life-as-we-know-it falling apart.

Scorpio Full Moon: Credit Cards and Taxes

Sometimes I laugh at how astrology can be so straightforward. Often when I find myself searching for subtleties in a chart, the astrology reveals something blatantly obvious — to which I respond with a profound “duh”.

Today, for example, there is a Full Moon in Scorpio, arriving at a time when I am re-evaulating how I handle credit cards. A Full Moon in Scorpio can be just that: an awareness of debt. I wonder how many others are considering their financial picture this week.

Taurus The Oak

If the bull were not the symbol for the second sign of the zodiac, I think the oak tree would make a fine substitute.

There is a wonderful old oak in my neighbourhood, strongly anchored in place on the corner of Alexandra Park by English Bay. Its presence is grounded and secure — like it has always been there and always will be. It endures our rainy winter without complaint, but at this Taurus time of the year, it comes alive with greenery once again.

British Columbia and the April 2014 Lunar Eclipse

We’re about to experience a Lunar Eclipse after midnight tonight. At 12:42 am Pacific Time on April 15, the earth will block the sun’s rays, casting a shadow on what otherwise would have been a very bright full moon. The eclipse will reach totality a few minutes later, and we, here in British Columbia, will have a great view of it.
